I am chairing the ICDT council.

I am an editor of the journals Information Systems, ACM Transactions on Database Systems, and Fundamenta Informaticae.

My doctoral advisor was Jan Paredaens. My own doctoral students are Jonny Daenen (co-advised with Frank Neven); Joris Gillis; Natalia Kwasnikowska; Dirk Leinders (PhD obtained in April 2008); Eveline Hoekx (December 2007); Stijn Vansummeren (2005); Bart Goethals (2002); Floris Geerts (2001); Frank Neven (1999).
